چکیده

Using mercaptoethylamine as a stabilizing agent, CdTe/CdS core/shell structure quantum dots (QDs) were prepared by a one-pot synthesis based on a simple high pressure autoclave. In addition, a new compound QDs-Cy3 was synthesized by chemical bonding between QDs and Cy3, which bond each other in a complex embrace involving aminogroup on QDs and carboxyl on Cy3. The products structures were characterized by Infrared spectra and Differential thermal analysis, and the spectral characteristics were revealed. The fluorescence spectra results indicated that the fluorescence intensity and peak shape of QDs-Cy3, which was compared with cyanine dye Cy3, had an evident change. The fluorescence spectra also indicated QDs and Cy3 may occur to fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) by bonding between QDs and Cy3. Bovine serum albumin were labeled by QDs-Cy3 and results showed that the fluorescence intensity were higher than that of unlabelled. The FRET characteristics between QDs and Cy3 are being investigated.

Synthesis of Aqueous CdTe/CdS/ZnS Core/shell/shell Quantum Dots by a Chemical Aerosol Flow Method

This work described a continuous method to synthesize CdTe/CdS/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum dots. In an integrated system by flawlessly combining the chemical aerosol flow system working at high temperature (200-300 degrees C) to generate CdTe/CdS intermediate products and an additional heat-up setup at relatively low temperature to overcoat the ZnS shells, the CdTe/CdS/ZnS multishell structure...

Influence of the Shell Thickness and Ratio Between Core Elements on Photostability of the CdTe/CdS Core/Shell Quantum Dots Embedded in a Polymer Matrix

This paper reports a study of photooxidation and photomodification processes of the CdTe/CdS quantum dots embedded in a polymer matrix under ambient condition. During the first few minutes of irradiation, the quasi-inverse increase in photoluminescence intensity has been observed indicating the passivation of the nanocrystal surface traps by water molecules. A prolonged irradiation of the polym...

Microwave-assisted synthesis of water-dispersed CdTe/CdSe core/shell type II quantum dots

A facile synthesis of mercaptanacid-capped CdTe/CdSe (core/shell) type II quantum dots in aqueous solution by means of a microwave-assisted approach is reported. The results of X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy revealed that the as-prepared CdTe/CdSe quantum dots had a core/shell structure with high crystallinity. The core/shell quantum dots exhibit tunable ...

Synthesis, Fluorescence Properties of a Complex Probe Based on Hydroxyl Quantum Dots and Carbazole Abutment Styryl Fluorescence Dye

Hydroxyl CdTe/CdS core/shell structure quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized using mercaptoethanol as stabilizer in aqueous under N2. In addition, the QDs coated with carbazole abutment styryl (TCQ) fluorescence dye were synthesized in room temperature, and the fluorescence properties were studied. The results indicated that the peak shift of QDs fluorescence spectra can mainly be due to the chan...

The cytotoxicity of cadmium-based quantum dots.

Semiconductor Quantum dots (QDs) have raised great attention because of their superior optical properties and wide utilization in biological and biomedical studies. More recently, there have been intense concerns on cytotoxicity assessment of QDs. Most QDs are made of heavy metal ions (e.g., Cd(2+)), which may result in potential in vitro toxicity that hampers their practical applications. In t...
